Business Leaders Rally Against DACA Shutdown
ASBC strongly opposes President Trump’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The Obama-era policy has allowed 800,000 individuals to live and work in America without a constant fear of deportation from the country they grew up in.
“Study after study prove that recent immigrants are not depressing wages or jeopardizing citizens from securing work,” said David Levine, CEO and Co-founder of ASBC, “In fact, the gains to our economy in tax revenues and skills are substantial.”
This decision will leave it up to an often-deadlocked Congress to figure out a plan to provide citizenship to the over 800,000 individuals currently classified under DACA.
